Join a down-to-earth team where people matter as much as the work

This is an exciting opportunity for a Civil & Employment Litigation Solicitor to join a highly regarded regional firm with deep roots in the local community, a genuinely supportive team culture, and a strong pipeline of complex and interesting work.

Forget aggressive targets and rigid corporate structures – here, relationships, quality, and mutual support come first.

About the role

You’ll step into a busy caseload, working closely with a Chartered Legal Executive, a trainee solicitor, and two dedicated secretaries. The firm is urgently seeking someone to support the growing workload and provide cover for a senior litigator currently on medical leave.

Workload includes:

  • Boundary disputes
  • Probate disputes
  • Contract disputes
  • Building disputes
  • A high volume of complex motorhome litigation cases
  • Occasional employment law work (approx. 10%)

You’ll be encouraged to develop expertise, contribute to the team’s development, and grow your caseload with a forensic, client-focused approach.

What we’re looking for

  • Ideally 3–4 years PQE (flexible on experience for the right candidate)
  • Strong civil litigation grounding; employment law experience a bonus
  • A forensic mindset and curiosity that goes beyond surface-level law
  • Clear, empathetic communicator who simplifies complex matters
  • A team player who contributes positively to a close-knit culture
  • Reliable, self-motivated and open to learning from others

Why you’ll love working here

  • Truly collaborative and non-hierarchical environment
  • No billing pressure or department rivalry
  • Flexible hours (work between 7am–5pm)
  • Hybrid working available
  • Private car park
  • Supportive admin team and your own secretary

Benefits

  • 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays
  • Firm closes over Christmas (additional 4.5 days off)
  • Bonus scheme potential
  • Income protection after 13 weeks
  • Potential future private health cover
  • Partnership prospects for the right individual

The culture

The firm proudly describes itself as a “dysfunctional family” – meaning everyone looks out for each other, has a laugh, and calls it how it is. It’s a first-name basis, open-door kind of place where ego is left at the door and client care is king.

They don’t tolerate arrogance or siloed working – and they don’t expect anyone to pretend they have all the answers. Asking for help is encouraged.

Unique selling points

  • Long-standing local reputation driven by word-of-mouth
  • Very low staff turnover
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Rural lifestyle with strong local schools
  • Easy access to Peterborough, King’s Lynn, and Boston
