Job Description

A top-tier law firm in the City is looking to recruit a skilled Associate to join its Infrastructure Finance team. This is a rare opportunity for a talented lawyer with 3–6 years of post-qualification experience to step into a visible, high-impact role within a dynamic and fast-evolving practice area.

About the Firm

This full-service commercial law firm is known for delivering first-class legal advice across a broad spectrum of sectors. With standout strength in private capital, corporate transactions, and complex disputes, the firm advises a wide client base that includes infrastructure investors, global asset managers, financial institutions, and major corporates engaged in sophisticated UK and cross-border work.

The culture blends high standards with a genuinely supportive working environment, where people are encouraged to thrive, develop, and contribute meaningfully to the firm’s continued success.

The Practice

The Infrastructure Finance team sits within a broader Finance Group that also spans leveraged finance, fund finance, real estate finance, and structured products. This particular practice is focused on advising sponsors, funds, and lenders on a diverse range of infrastructure-related financing transactions across multiple sectors.

The team handles everything from acquisition and portfolio financing to refinancings (including complex multi-creditor structures) and Holdco-level arrangements. While the practice leans towards brownfield assets and financial investor-led deals, there is increasing involvement at the project development stage as clients expand into earlier lifecycle opportunities.

Core sectors include energy (including renewables and power infrastructure), transport, digital and telecoms, water and waste, mining, utilities, and social infrastructure. The team also supports clients entering new and emerging areas as the definition of infrastructure continues to evolve.

What Makes This Role Stand Out?

  • You’ll work with a loyal, engaged client base that includes major infrastructure investors such as Ancala, DIF Capital Partners, and Arjun Infrastructure.
  • The firm offers a genuinely joined-up approach across infrastructure, with transactional, regulatory, and commercial specialists all working seamlessly together under one roof.
  • The team is lean, ambitious, and growing — giving you room to take ownership, help shape the practice, and develop a reputation in a high-growth area.
  • There is strong investment in people. Associates benefit from business development coaching, partner mentorship, and active encouragement to build their personal profile within the market.
  • You’ll be working closely with Ryan Ayrton, a highly regarded infrastructure finance partner, and will play a central role in the execution of deals and the development of client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate key financing documents including facility agreements, term sheets, security documents, and intercreditor arrangements.
  • Manage infrastructure finance transactions from initial structuring through to closing, working directly with clients and coordinating with colleagues across the firm.
  • Supervise junior lawyers and support team members, contributing to training and developing others within the group.
  • Collaborate closely with the firm’s Infrastructure M&A team and other practice areas for cross-functional support.
  • Oversee local counsel on international matters, ensuring consistent and high-quality service delivery.
  • Take an active role in business development — building networks among peers, clients, and market participants to support the firm’s growth in the infrastructure space.
  • Maintain strong matter management discipline, including budget tracking, WIP monitoring, and internal reporting.

What We’re Looking For

  • A qualified solicitor (or equivalent) from a Common Law jurisdiction with 3–6 years’ PQE.
  • Solid experience from a well-regarded Infrastructure Finance, Project Finance, or Leveraged Finance team.
  • Strong legal drafting skills with a commercial outlook and a keen interest in the infrastructure sector.
  • A collaborative mindset with the confidence to manage transactions, take initiative, and communicate clearly with clients and colleagues alike.
  • Enthusiasm for building long-term client relationships and contributing to the future growth of the practice.
  • Excellent academics and a track record of high-quality work.

This role is being managed exclusively by Ohana Recruitment Ltd.
